The reason it all started

Vinyl Record Hunting

The reason I started thrifting in the first place was because of my love for music. My whole life since I was a kid I always purchased CDs, even when downloading music became available and money as a grade 8 kid was limited to $10 a week I would still buy CDs. The photos above show my whole Vinyl Record collection, at least 90% of those vinyls have been purchased at Goodwills, Talizes, Salvation Armys, and Thrift Stores. Some of my most cherished finds like The Beatles Love Songs have cost me no more than 75 cents. I've seen that exact same Beatles vinyl selling for $60 in most Record shops in Toronto.

There's nothing like digging through a crap load of Christian Church Music and Irish Christmas Vinyls for what seems like an eternity. The place smells, the vinyls are dirty, browsing vinyls on high shelves can even be tiring on my weak arms. However all of it is worth it when you find that one vinyl that you didn't even know you were looking for. That's the fun in record hunting, you never know what you're going to find. Below are some of my all time favourite finds. The pictures were taken to focus on the price tags on the rare finds.

The Beatles - Love Songs (cost: $0.75 - 50% off day at Goodwill)

The Ray Charles Collection (Cost: $1.99 from Talize)

Marvin Gaye - What's going on? (Still sealed, cost: $0.75)

Rolling Stones - Through the past darkly (Cost: $0.75)

Frank Sinatra - Where are you? (My first record ever purchased, cost: $1.49)

I will buy any Bill Cosby vinyl I see, his comedy and humor although very outdated in today's time is some of the funniest pieces you'll ever hear. Bill Cosby is a legend in entertainment, and always has a place in my collection.
